Alliance with Gears Esports Announced

TV Azteca to Broadcast Gears 5 Pro League in Latin America

Azteca Esports and its exclusive partner for programming international e-Sports, Allied Esports, have forged a new alliance with Gears Esports to exclusively broadcast Gears 5 Pro League in Latin America on TV Azteca’s digital platforms.

The 2019-2020 Gears 5 Pro League calendar, which includes the Alpha Division of North America and the Bravo Division of North America, Latin America, and Europe, will conclude in July 2020 with the first Gears 5 World Championship.

The TV Azteca and Allied Esports strategic alliance will create and produce events and eSports content through Azteca Esports. They will go out to a growing fan audience and be the basis for developing the first 24-hour digital channel dedicated to eSports and the videogame culture in Mexico.

In 2019, Azteca Esports produced original, successful content through several events, such as Nation vs. Nation, where 40 competitors pitted Mexico and the United States against each other in the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds match. This was Allied Esports first broadcast in Latin America, reaching more than 2 million spectators on TV Azteca channels.

Later it produced the original Super Smash Bros Ultimate event, in which 60 players competed for two days. More than 7 million fans watched the competition on TV Azteca digital platforms.

And, in July 2019, Azteca Esports transmitted the Fortnite World Cup on Azteca Deportes social networks, reaching audiences comparable to those who watched Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez’s international boxing matches and the Super Bowl.
