Grupo Elektra Announces Sale of Banco Azteca El Salvador

Grupo Elektra announced that it had sold all its shares in Banco Azteca El Salvador to Grupo Perinversiones, S.A. de C.V., a holding group for Grupo Salume. The operation was given the go-ahead by El Salvador’s Financial Superintendent’s and Competition Superintendent’s Offices.

Banco Azteca El Salvador was established more than 10 years ago, and has successfully offered financial services not offered to popular sectors by the traditional banking system. This has contributed to the inclusion in the banking system and the access to credit of large segments of the population and to stimulate the country’s development.

Grupo Perinversiones, part of one of El Salvador’s most important consortia, is headed by Adolfo Salume Artiñano, who has important investments in the food and beverage, logistics, real estate, and financial services sectors

Under the leadership of Adolfo Salume Artiñano, the Perinversiones management team, and the bank itself, the institution will continue to strengthen its dynamic banking operations to the benefit of the Salvadoran people.

Grupo Elektra will concentrate its efforts in markets where it is currently implementing its business model, with solid financial and commercial operations. This will allow it to strengthen the well-being and progress of the communities where it operates.
